R&I held "Korea-China-Japan Credit Rating Agencies Seoul Forum"
Rating and Investment Information, Inc. (R&I), NICE Investors Service Co., Ltd. (NICE) and Dagong Global Credit Rating Co., Ltd. (Dagong) jointly held "Korea-China-Japan Credit Rating Agencies Seoul Forum" on October 21, 2009. This was the third joint forum after Beijing in 2007 and Tokyo in 2008. The Forum had approximately 250 participants from government agencies, financial institutions, non-financial corporations and institutional investors. R&I believes that it was a great success from the standpoint of the enhanced recognition of R&I in Korea as well as the promotion of mutual cooperation among three agencies.
At the Forum, after the keynote speech by Mr. Song Kyung Chul, Senior Deputy Governor, Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) of Korean Government, the representatives from three agencies made presentations under the grand topic, "Changes in the CRA methodologies and regulatory frameworks in the aftermath of Financial Crisis." From R&I, Mr. Hidetaka Tanaka, Senior Executive Managing Director and Head of Structured Finance Division, provided an overview on the critics which credit rating agencies received at the height of financial crisis, and explained about the recent political responses by the regulatory authorities in the U.S., the E.U. and Japan.
In 2010, the three rating agencies plan to have the next joint Forum in Beijing.
